About Cindy Donohoe

I grew up as an Air Force brat traveling the world and loved exploring new locations, cultures, and people. My career as an executive leading Benefits and M&A teams was very fulfilling, but I longed to explore my creative side. Over the years I kept coming back to art as my passion. Recently I found a letter written by the 10-year-old Cindy to her grandmother saying, “I just started painting and I really like it.” That same grandmother kept one of my first paintings and proudly displayed it in her living room for over 40 years.

I have attended art classes on and off for years and found a great artist community through Jane Coonce’s art class and the Arlington Artist Alliance. Joining fellow artists on trips to southern France and Venice painting en plein air has been a joy and source of inspiration. My work has been accepted into several juried shows and my paintings have been exhibited in local venues such as Gallery Clarendon, Gallery Underground, Rehoboth Art League, and Ft. C.F. Smith. My paintings can be found in private collections nationally.

Artist Statement

The use of design, color, and brush stroke to capture a moment, a feeling, or shimmer on the water is my goal.  Paintings of an expansive sky enveloping a painter in a field or the breathless smile of a child playing on the beach are all part of that intention. I enjoy a wide range of subjects, but am captivated by water and reflections.
